The Kingswood Heritage Museum is to become the owner and exhibitor of the iconic Kleeneze sign, which has adorned the former factory building off Anstey’s Road for decades.
Homes England is currently carrying out enabling works at the vacant site, preparing the ground for an extensive redevelopment which will transform the area into a vibrant new neighbourhood for Hanham.
Part of these works is the demolition of disused factory buildings, including the warehouse bearing the sign. Interest was expressed by the Kingswood Heritage Museum, the largest independent museum in South Gloucestershire, and it was agreed that the sign will pass to them.
Senior Planning and Enabling Manager John Boutwood said: “We are delighted to hand the Kleeneze sign over to the Museum, where it can be displayed, celebrating Hanham’s industrial history.”
Alan Bryant, Joint Curator at Kingswood Heritage Museum, said: “We are delighted with the sign and are looking forward to displaying it at the museum as soon as possible.”
