Anneliese (6) and Alice (10) win drawing competition

With the aim to engage younger members of the local community in the redevelopment plans for the former Kleeneze site, last month Homes England gave presentations to pupils of Christ Church C of E Primary School in Hanham, outlining the draft proposals. The children were then encouraged to provide the Homes England project team with their ideas of what a nice house or an attractive neighbourhood looks like.

To give this some structure, a drawing competition was set up. The Reception – Year 2 group were asked to make a drawing of a house that they would like to live in, in the category Best House Design. The KS2 group competed in the category Best Neighbourhood Design, creating what they felt would constitute an attractive neighbourhood.

At the school’s final virtual assembly before the Summer holidays, on Wednesday 21st July, the winners were announced. The Best House Design Award was won by Anneliese, aged 6. Alice, aged 10, beat her competitors in the category Best Neighbourhood Design. Homes England’s project team had been very impressed with their use of bright colours, the level of detail and the description of various aspects of their designs.

Both winners were presented with unique Homes England sustainable trophies and award certificates. Homes England then thanked everyone for their participation and wished everyone a lovely summer break. The winning entries are shown in the image featured in this post.
